Polhemus Fastrak tracking system

The Fastrak is a Polhemus-designed system offering 6 Degrees of Freedom and tracking with virtually no latency. It can be used for head, hand, object tracking, biomechanical analysis, etc.

This award-winning tracker is known for delivering reliable and accurate 6 DOF data in real time. The system has an operational range of approximately 1.5m with a standard transmitter. In addition, with the optional "Long Ranger" transmitter the range increases to up to 3m (diameter) of operating range. Thanks to its unique AC electromagnetic technology, Fastrak provides position and orientation data without the need for additional calculations.

Unlike the optical-based tracking system, there are no visual obstruction problems, and continuous tracking can be achieved simply. Fastrak is used in research studies and at the world's most prestigious universities, in flight simulators and in many other varied applications.

Finally, adding the ergonomic stylus turns the Fastrak into a free-form digitiser. This makes capturing 3D data as easy as pressing a button. This ensures extreme accuracy over an unlimited number of data points.
